NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Phase II

You must complete the NRA online portion NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting – Phase I prior to registering for phase II course. When you enroll in the online course, you create a PIN. Upon successfully completion of the online portion of the course, print your certificate to activate the PIN. Then you can register for phase II.

Phase II is a six hours the hands-on instructor led that reinforces and applies the skills students have already learned in e-learning phase. Topics in the course include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, clearing malfunctions, selecting and storing a pistol, the fundamentals of shooting, and pistol inspection and maintenance. Includes live-fire time at the local range
Upon completion of the course, students will receive the NRA Basic Shooting Course certification.

Classroom location and time are flexible depending on class size.
Private training for individuals or small groups. Location and time of the classroom portion can be at your home or another mutually convenient agreed location. Classes are taught on the weekends only. Range time can be done on a different day than the classroom portion such as on weekday evenings.

No live ammunition is permitted in the classroom portion.
Ammunition and hearing protection are not included in the cost. Students have the option to rent hearing protection at the range.
Students are welcome to bring their own handgun for the live firing portion at the range. A semi-auto pistol will be provided for those who don’t have one.

This course meets the Virginia concealed handgun permit (CHP) requirements.

You are not required to bring your firearm for the classroom portion. No live ammunition on your persons!

  • Cost: $129 per student
  • What to bring: 100 rounds of ammunition, if you don’t have your own gun, please bring 100 rounds of factory 9mm.
    Positive learning attitude.

Introduction to handguns for personal protection, while out and about your daily lives.
This course is six hours and includes one hour range time. Topics covered in this course:

–         Pistol shooting fundamentals which include, safe gun handling, grip, proper trigger finger, trigger control, stance, sight alignment, one handed shooting, identifying malfunctions

–          Overview of general federal and state firearm laws

–          How to be a responsible concealed carrier, best practices and the don’ts

–          General rules of self-defense

–          Holster types, selection, usage and gun belts

–          Selecting defensive handgun ammunition

–          Drawing from the holster

This course exceeds the Virginia concealed handgun permit (CHP) requirements.

For the classroom portion, students will need:

  • Notepad and something to write with
  • Water, drinks
  • The desire to learn
  • Cost$ 149 per student

For the live fire range portion, students will need:

  • 100-150 rounds of ammunition
  • A reliable semiautomatic handgun
  • Ear and eye protection
  • Money for range fee
  • (Optional) A good IWB or OWB holster, no nylon, worn leather, or Blackhawk Serpa holsters!

About The Instructor

Walid Boonprasit is an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor providing classes throughout Northern Virginia. He’s been trained by one of the most recognized firearms instructors since 2013. The following instructors he has trained under: John Murphy, Creg Ellifritz, Jody Maki, Spencer Keepers and Chris Sizelove, Michael and Brent from Green Ops.

Walid spends a lot of his free time on training and practicing handgun self-defense skills and marksmanship. Keeping up with useful self-defense resources and staying on top of Virginia firearms laws is part of his daily routine.
He is also an activist, an active member of his state pro-gun grassroots organization the Virginia Citizens Defense League and a NRA member.
He is constantly learning and training in order to keep advancing his skills to provide students with the most up to date defensive course curriculum.
