Green Ops – Defensive Carbine I AAR

This is my second review for Green Ops. It’s also my second class I attended with them. This after action feedback and review will be about the rifle class taught by the team. Being mainly a pistol person for four and a half years, I’m starting to venture on to learning how to use a rifle correctly, effectively and efficiently. In particular the AR platform. Most all civilians in the United States who carry a firearm daily for self protection carry a pistol. It’s imperative that we spend more time and money to train and practice on the tool we carry daily. On the other hand, many of us also own the most popular rifle in American known as the AR-15. AR doesn’t stand for Assault Rifle, it stands for ArmaLite after the company that developed it in the 1950s. The AR-15 rifle platform is very versatile, you can use it for hunting, target shooting or self defense. Whether you already own one or plan on acquiring one, you should know how to effectively and safely use this rifle. You probably don’t use it or carry it everyday with you but it’s good to know how-to when needed. For this class, students are not limited to just bringing an AR-15, there was one student who brought a Tavor 🙄 😀 . Staying Safe At Motels & Hotels

A lot of us travel for leisure or work related, which is why we should take the appropriate steps keep our selves and love ones safe while lodging. First off, let’s start with an Infographic – Hotel for Single Gal, this also applies to single guys, family or groups as well.

Let’s dive into discussing how the armed citizen can use various methods to protect his or herself when staying at motels and hotels. Continue reading “Staying Safe At Motels & Hotels” »

Complying Doesn’t Mean You Will Be Safe

knife robbery

I had a colleague said he doesn’t need a gun or skills to protect himself from others. His comments were, “I always stay out of trouble, stay away from bad neighborhoods, mind my own business. If someone mugs me, I’ll just comply with them and give them my wallet.” Well, how naive and uninformed you are buddy. Criminals pick when and where, sometimes you can’t avoid them, you just have to be ready. Continue reading “Complying Doesn’t Mean You Will Be Safe” »

Thoughts On Active Shooter Situations

active shooter

A brief rundown on what you should do in case of an active shooter(s) invent. This is taken from a retired Virginia Sheriffs Department captain.

1.  At the first inkling, get in motion!  Don’t hesitate, nor dither.  Don’t freeze and stay in one place.  Terrorists are weakest and least organized at the very beginning, as their plan is just starting to unfold.  That is the time to make your move, whatever form that takes.  As terrorists consolidate their control, your options will rapidly dry-up!

2.  Be aware of all exits, not just the door you came in through.  Know how you are going to get to an exit, and out of there, quickly.

Virginia Restaurant Owner Quickly Takes Control of The Robber’s Gun

woman-grabs-gun-02

This brave and skillful Chinese store owner seems to know what she was doing. The bad guy was already up next to her with his drawn gun. Question, would you draw your gun on an already drawn gun? That’s probably not a good idea. There are few ways you can distract the bad guy to gain distance before you draw your gun and shoot, but what she did worked out great for her. A Few Things To Discuss – Montgomery Co, MD. Shootings Eulalio Tordil

Mongomery mall shooting

Today police finally caught the shooter, a Federal Protective Service employee who shot a woman in a Prince George’s County MD school parking lot Thursday 5 2016. Then again today Friday the 6th he shot others at Montgomery Mall and Aspen Hill grocery store. So far two victims died and other two are injured in the two days shooting by one assailant.
More details on local ABC and WTOP news.

First I want to briefly touch on 3rd party intervention in my previous article What Not To Do As A Concealed Carrier & The Good Samaritan. We as a law-abiding armed citizens have responsibilities to protect ourselves and love ones from violence. Not to use our guns to play police and intervene a 3rd party incident, unless with certain “exceptions” I mentioned  in the article linked above.
What’s worse with this case is that the woman at the school who intervened (the news media called them good Samaritan 😕 ) wasn’t carrying a gun, and foolishly walked up to a derange man with a gun. I can’t believe this people, how naive they are? And of course this occurred in Communist Maryland and on school property. Why walked in to a fire without a fire extinguisher? .223 79 grain DRT Elite Series – Unlike Any Other .223/5.56 round (Video)

223-drt-elite

Some ammo lines don’t perform as advertise by their manufactures. How does the DRT Elite Series in 223 perform? First, let’s examine the physical construction.

The round is barrier blind lead free and produces a lot of kinetic energy when shot. It is a 79 grain Flat Base Hollow Point bullet. The bullet is long with all that mass which, in turn, produces such mass amounts of energy.
Advertise muzzle velocity is 2600 FPS producing 1186 foot-pounds of muzzle energy.
Thanks to YouTuber GY6vids for testing this round through various barriers.
He used two guns to in this test.
The first is a Remington bolt action 700 5R with a 20 inch barrel and 1/9 twist.
The 2nd rifle is an AR-15 with a 1/7 twist match grade barrel

As the video shows the round penetrates the gel, wood, shirt, meat and windshield with no problem, however, it was only able to penetrate one block of concrete instead of two which is just as impressive.
