There Is No Such Thing As An Assault Weapon

There is no such thing as an “assault weapon.” I urge gun owners to please refrain from using this term. Also, assault rifles are used by the military and most civilians don’t own such guns. The term “assault weapon” was made by the anti-gun folks back in 1989. The philosophy behind this term is to make guns look evil, mean and scary. Unfortunately such deceiving method became a success. The so-called “assault weapons” didn’t exist until California passed a ban in 1989. Assault weapons are not machine guns or assault rifles. According to David Kopel, writing in The Wall Street Journal.

“What some people call “assault weapons” function like every other normal firearm—they fire only one bullet each time the trigger is pressed. Unlike automatics (machine guns), they do not fire continuously as long as the trigger is held. … Today in America, most handguns are semi-automatics, as are many long guns, including the best-selling rifle today, the AR-15, the model used in the Newtown shooting. Some of these guns look like machine guns, but they do not function like machine guns.”

The word assault is a purpose, not the gun itself. Guns don’t have life or a soul. They don’t have an intent of their own. It’s an inanimate object. In this case, most civilians (besides criminals and some big government entities) have a defensive rifles. Because that’s what it’s purpose. Is to defend yourself or to use it as a recreational rifle, aka sporting rifle. A gun is a tool, this tool allows the user to fire projectiles at a high speed. The purpose or intent varies by the operator behind the gun.
I could say I got an assault knife, an assault car, or an assault screwdriver if I’m going to use it for such malicious intent.
Call rifles by it’s type, an AR-15 or an AK-47.

The military uses the M-16 and the M4A1 which are are fully automatic or burst fire mode. AR-15’s that are sold to civilians in the US are semi-automatic. By the way, AR doesn’t mean “assault rifle” like some people think. It stands for Armalite which is the original company that came up with this type of rifle.
AK stands for Avtomat Kalashnikov. Avtomat means automatic in Russian. Kalashnikov is the last name of the Russian small arms designer (Founder of the AK platform) Mikhail Kalashnigov who passed away in December 2013.
Our side needs to stop using the phrase assault weapon and limit the use of the phrase “assault rifle.” I can see how the liberal system indoctrinated most people. Their deceptive tactics, by using whatever words or phrases they want to feed us, over and over again and on every media outlet. It’s to bad they are effective at doing so. We need to reverse this.

  1. This is stupid man….So if you see a garage full of ARs and AKs what’s the general name you give them? Just Firearms? Seems you are doing a disservice by calling them simple firearms. Assault Rifle is a perfect name. It perfectly states what the weapon is CAPABLE of doing (not what it should be doing). Are you offended by Anti-Tank Mine? Those can blow up people too but it was created for one particular job….

    1. Don’t spit conclusions based on what you don’t know. The state you live in must make it very obscure for you to think clear. AR-15’s that civilians use looks just like the ones the military use. But it doesn’t fire in full auto or a 3 round burst, or you can’t just buy a 12 inch AR1-5 rifle with a stock without having to fill out paper work and paying $200 tax.
      Read up mate

      1. Well…you CAN buy 12 inch upper….and you can buy a lower…it’s legally assembling them that requires the paperwork. Which if a person were to commit a crime with one they certainly wouldn’t bother to do.
