On the worldwide stage it appears that the fight to keep guns in the hands of private citizens is tilted towards firearm prohibitionists. In just the last year both New Zealand and Canada significantly tightened firearms ownership, both in response to separate mass-shootings, and have demanded their citizens hand over just about any effective modern firearm. The former enacted gun control via Parliamentary decision, and the latter used executive power; efforts exist against these corresponding decisions in both countries, with the Council of Licenced Firearms Owners mounting a campaign to resist and reform the decision, and the Canadian Shooting Sports Association challenging the legality of the executive action respectively. While it’s great to see gun owners in both nations work to overturn or revise those decisions, neither country recognizes the right to bear arms in their constitutions. In fact, there are only only three nations in the world that do: Guatemala, Mexico, and the United States.
There may soon be a fourth, however.
Recently a bill was introduced in Czechia’s senate to amend their constitution and formally codify the long-standing tradition of keeping arms for self-defense. The small Central European country has a rich history of producing quality firearms that dates back hundreds of years, and is one of the few nations in the world that permits the carrying of concealed firearms in public. The amendment states (translated courtesy of Google):
What’s wrong to come up with a new term, huh? 😉 Instead of writing, I made a video about the current worsening ammo shortage situation. Pricing and availability for both online etailers and local retailers such as gun stores and big sporting goods stores.
I know most of my followers and people do not like to read, either due to the fact that folks to lazy, prefer photos such as mems (you can only put out so much information in a meme) and videos. Maybe thanks to Zuckbook feeds scrolling toxicity. I see such data in my posts here and on the Defense Populace Facebook page. Very little likes, views and comments on great articles with very useful information. Some articles are written by myself with 1st hand information. I spent a lot of work and time to write. But I get a lot more likes and comments on photos, memes, follow by videos and anti 2A related stores. Now let’s see how this one does😉😁
Smith & Edwards ammo that’s in stock as of 8-3-2018
Some experts say that the current ammo shortage situation can last up to 12 months, only if nothing news occurs and things start to slowly improve by the end of this year. How is your local ammo shortage playing out in your area? Write in the comments below.
The purpose of this article is for the everyday urban civilian concealed carry. Not for duty police, open carry, military of any sorts. This is a specific topic for those who are new to concealed carry, looking to start carrying and those who’ve been carry on the hip but being eying AIWB for some time now.
Holsters, in almost every town there is someone making holsters. It doesn’t mean they are good quality, safe and efficient. What are the main key items to look for when purchasing your holster? 1) It should have a good trigger guard. Kydex holsters are phenomenal, where no matter how hard you press on the trigger guard it would not flex inward. That’s why the sloppy dangerous nylon holsters are the worse of the holster lineup, follow by leather and hybrid holstes. Leather holsters are marginally acceptable as long as they are not worn out.
2) It must hold the gun securely. The right amount of tightness where if you perform a somersault the gun won’t come flying out, or if you get thrown to the ground the gun won’t come out. It should not be too tight or too loose. I good nice audible click when reholstering.
3 Enough space to get a good grip, when you go to draw your gun, you should get a full draw grip. I see many holsters where the grip of the gun touches or rest on top of the pants and belt, there is no space to get your fingers to get a good draw stroke. The holsters listed below in this article all have a perfect ride height where you can get a good grip for a fast and nice draw stroke.
Hybrid holsters such as the Alien Gear holsters are dangerous and here is why https://defensivepopulace.net/why-your-hybrid-holster-is-dangerous/ The infamous OWB (outside the waistband) holster Blackhawk Serpa retention holsters are extremely dangerous and has been proven over and over in real life and in Craig Douglas ECQC class , multiple discussion and articles on that already which I’m not going to go over here. Many quality defensive pistol classes throughout the country do not allow this holster or strong advise against using it in their classes. For OWB retention holsters the Safariland ALS line is the way go to!
Why carry AIWB? This type of carry are for those wanting to carry around the front of their waistband, the A standing for appendix. AKA the appendix carry. This style of carry wasn’t popular, and was even deemed unsafe back in the days. However, its popularity has grown, especially over the past decade. It has also been found to be a perfectly safe way to carry. With quality holsters along with modern striker fire pistols such as the Smith & Wesson M&Ps line and Glocks have several safeties built in to them. Examples are, the trigger safety. In the M&P line, the trigger safety prevents movement until the pivoting trigger is pulled while a spring loaded plunger prevents firing pin movement until the rearward movement of the trigger bar deactivates it. FBI numbers don’t lie. Nation wide report shows that law breakers using rifles to commit crime is significant less than knives or hands and fists.
When a man wants to kill, he will do whatever it takes. If there were laws that prevents a people from committing murder, we would have heard about it by now. This goes back to Cain and Able.
According to the FBI, the number of people killed with rifles and shotguns in 2016 totals approximately 636. Over 4 times that many, approximately 2732, were stabbed or hacked to death. If these anti Second Amendment freedom hating Democrats were all about saving lives and trying to reduce crime, they wouldn’t push for “assault rifles” or the correct term, semi auto rifles ban. They never talked about how many lives are saved by the hands of private citizens with guns each year.
The 10mm is gaining popularity, especially for those who are avid outdoorsmen.
A brief history
Dating back to the 1986 FBI Miami shootout which resulted in the creation of this cartridge. The 10mm never gain popularity and accepted by law enforcement agencies around the country. This was due to the excessive recoil which many to-be, and in the field LEO who scored poorly. Thus the stripped down 10mm, anemic 10mm or weak 10mm also known as the 40 S&W was born. Full power 10mm sits between between the .357 magnum and .44 magnum.
Modern 9mm such as the Federal HST and Speer Gold Dot has taken the FBI and many law enforcement agencies across the country by storm. With wounding ballistics equating to the 40S&W. Subsequently, in the past couple of years the FBI decided to switch to the 9mm .
For your urban EDC concealed carry, the common chambered 9mm handguns are perfectly suitable and preferred for stopping the two legged beast. The 9mm is my EDC choice of caliber for urban carry.
What could possible go wrong with my hybrid holster? More hybrid holster hate and why…
Wearing such holster al day is comfortable on the waist. Until a mishap 😳 occurs due to;
1) The sweat shield starts to snag after wear.
2) Upon resholster, the trigger guard collapses. Most people will have to use their second hand to assist in reholster. Some folks even to point the muzzle towards their waste to snake it in. Seen this in one of the classes I attended. All of this struggle and you’re playing with your safety! 😥
3) Makes it cumbersome to reholster countless times during an 8 hour defensive concealed carry class, at the same time it increases the risk by tenfold. Many known instructors will strongly advise against such holster in their classes beside the infamous Black Hawk Serpa.
Is your head tuck in your ass on that phone, and your situation awareness is non existent?
Are your vehicle windows all the way up?
How do you carry your gun?
Vehicle mounted? SMH 😥
Hip carry? 😕
AIWB (appendix) carry 🙂
Can you effectively and quickly draw your gun while sitting in the car?
Did you take any vehicle carry courses and practice from time to time?
Maybe it wasn’t a safe neighborhood so you should not be hanging out in your car. It’s usually not a good idea to draw your gun on a drawn gun. While sitting in your car, your car door helps conceal your draw from the bad guy outside, and some tint can assist in obscuring you as a whole. Find that opportunity and moment when the bad guy is distracted and his eyes are not on your hands where you will draw, be quick! Constant practice will help during stressful situation, allowing your defensive motor skills to be second nature.
Good news is one less bad buy on the street and another gun save lives incident. The driver did well and lived. Lessons can be learned from this defensive shooting incident.
Bum: Hey man, ya got some change?
Me: NO! “Keep on walking”
Bum: walks away.
Bum: You got a dolla to spare bro?
Me: NO! “Keep walking”
Bum: Mumbles and looks the other way.
The method of being firm and speaking from your stomach is what’s recommended by known experience defensive instructors and those who have put such action to the test. Based on the response of the panhandlers, not just ignoring but stating the No! is effective for most cases. This is a good way to work out your peripheral vision.
It firmly shows them where you stand
This will make aware of other folks within your proximity and naturally forces them to look and see what’s sup
If this was a disguised would be attacker or robber, hey or they might think twice since now you both just created attention
You don’t need to say much, or get nasty, be short and firm. The power of a firmness tone goes a long way. I always have a pepper spray in my hand or pocket ready to deploy if the color condition intensifies. Keep in mind that the force you use should be proportional and your gun might not always be the solution to the problem.
Some content in this article might not be for the faint for heart, but required to understand if you want to save your life or lives of others.
It’s time that I write about one very important life saving device known as a tourniquet.
A tourniquet in your center console of your car, or better, on your persons can increase your chance of survival in a vehicle crash that caused major arteries in one of your limbs to rapture. Consider this life saving advice. I can’t emphasize enough on this particular essential hardware. You should learn how to use one and practice how to deploy one from time to time.
I prefer the CAT (Combat Application Tourniquet) above all others mainly due to it’s reliability, ease of use and proven track record.
Let’s explore the history of the CAT Tourniquet from North America Rescue Products (NARP) website:
